Coastal erosion control

Coastal erosion is increasing as climate change brings more extreme weather to our shores. Waves – generated by more windy conditions – destroy land areas every day.

Wave-breakers, using either TeleTube® or TeleBag®, are the solution. Once installed, the waves break and lose their energy before the shoreline. Sediments carried by the waves will accumulate on the other side of the geotextile tube or geotextile bag, raising the seabed up to the coast. In this case, this solution is generally used for land reclamation projects.

Tidal changes are also known to create coastal erosion. Here the solution is FlexiTex® installed below the normal water level and FlexiGrow® above.

TeleTube©

TeleTube® is a product family of different geotextile tubes produced from high strength tenacity textiles.

TeleTube® family consists in two types of tubes:
• TeleTube® for coastal erosion and marine applications
• TeleTube® for dewatering and industrial purposes

Both these TeleTube® are custom made and available in several dimensions and types of fabrics depending on the project and customer’s needs.

TeleBag® is a product family of various types of bags produced from high tenacity textiles.

The bags are available in different dimensions depending on a customer’s needs. One important advantage of TeleBag® is the possibility of using filling material (eg sand or gravel) found on site. The main applications are:
• Flood control and protection
• Reinforcing existing dikes/shoreline structures
• Erosion control
• Storage of contaminated sediments

 FlexiTex©

FlexiTex® is a textile shuttering for use at the water-side and underwater concrete work.

There has been a significant increase in the use of textile shuttering in concrete work, particularly at the water-side and underwater projects. The most important reason for this increased interest has been the introduction of woven fabrics made of high-strength multifilament synthetic fibre.

Coupled with simplified installation working procedures, this results in reduced working times and attractive cost saving.
