Land reclamation

Land reclamation is the creation of land where there was once seas or rivers, in order to increase building, infrastructures areas as well as harbor land reclamation schemes. Level of the reclaimed land is above the sea as opposed to polder or “water management units” whose soil is under sea level.

The nature of the subsoils in such applications is very weak and need to be reinforced. On most of the projects stones are used to increase the bearing capacity of the structures to be built. The use of a separation and reinforcement layer on the sea-bed will increase the life time of the installations.
