Slope reinforcement

Reinforcement in slopes or steep banks may be used for different purposes. The reinforcement is used to build with a steeper slope than what is possible when using natural fill materials. Since natural fill masses may commonly be constructed with a natural inclination, reinforced slopes commonly have a steeper inclination.

Basically the design concept of a reinforced steep slope is similar to that used for reinforce retaining walls. The purpose of the reinforcement is to take care of the lateral earth pressure in the soil and to “tie back” the potential failure wedge in front of the potential ultimate failure plane.

Woven polyester geotextile TeleVev® and Woven geogrid TeleGrid® can be used in such applications.
